It begins with you.

Our Message to You

We believe that the best student-led organizations bring diverse perspectives to the table — whether it be race, age, physical and mental fitness, sexuality, gender identity, ethnicity, nationality, ideas, among countless others. Further, we believe that people do their best work when they feel like they belong; the same feeling we hope to instill into our community. At CSUEB Pre-Med APAMSA, we’re building a culture where people can bring their full selves and be heard and supported. We hope you’ll join us as the journey begins with you.

    • Please note that this is different from a Curriculum Vitae (CV).

    • You may use high school experiences only as a last resort.

  • For your cover letter, we encourage you to discuss any details not mentioned within your resume and why you believe you are a good fit for the selected role (s).

    • Please use your professional judgment regarding what should be included in your cover letter.

    • Please be mindful of common typographical errors (e.g., spelling, grammar, syntax, etc.).

    • There is no word maximum. However, typical cover letters do not exceed one (1) page.

If you need assistance writing your resume, cover letter, or both, please visit CSUEB’s Academic Advising & Career Education Office here.
We cannot stress enough how important it is to complete these documents properly.

Why have a Resume Requirement?

We’ve often been asked this question, and the answer is simple: it’s an exercise to learn how to complete a traditional job application and learn more about what you need to do to get to the next step. In other words, it’s preparatory.

More often than not, you’ll need to have some form of Resume/CV and Cover Letter ready when you enter your allopathic and osteopathic school applications on American Medical College Application Service® (AMCAS®) and American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service (AACOMAS), respectively. Having these documents ready will make listing your accomplishments easier in lieu of trying to remember or start from scratch.
